Phase Zero Design celebrates its eighth anniversary in business, incorporated June 11, 2009. The firm was founded when Principals, Matthew Wittmer and Jim Kimball took a big risk and started in the midst of the recession in 2009. The firm started with three people in hopes that they could reassemble the team from former firms as soon as possible. “We had nowhere to go, but up,” said Matt Wittmer.
Wittmer and Kimball, both registered architects with many years of experience, set to grow their company at a steady pace. Within 18-months, they’d signed a master services agreement for dining services at universities across the country and doubled their staff to six and opened a second office location. Less than a year later, they won a contract with Ann Taylor fashion and by the end of 2011 had 19 staff members.
Today, Phase Zero Design has a head count of 41, mainly split between Simsbury, CT and Hingham, MA offices. The firm is licensed in 47 states and works with national clients in retail, hospitality, corporate, residential, and academic markets. The firm is also planning to open a third location this summer/fall in Raleigh, NC and continues to grow clients in all sectors.
Congratulations to Jim Kimball, Matt Wittmer and the entire Phase Zero Design team for growing successful architecture and interior design firm.
